Description
My fire bomber art piece depicting the Aero Union Corporation of Chico, California's Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress that was converted to a fire bomber and flown out of Redding, California.
This aircraft the Boeing B-17G USAAF s/n 44-83514 was built by Douglas Aircraft in late 1944 and served in the south pacific. In 1959 it was placed into storage at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. A short time later it was acquired by the Aero Union Corporation and served 18 years as a fire bomber in California with s/n N-9323Z.
