Description
My digital oil of the only remaining Ryan XFR-1 Fireball from World War Two now owned by the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, California.
The Fireball was a combination prop jet engine carrier based fighter introduced in March of 1945. Only 71 were built and they remained in service until 1947. Originally 1000 were ordered but it was cancelled when the war ended in August.
On 6 November 1945, a Fireball of VF-41 became the first aircraft to land under jet power on an aircraft carrier,
